Load Return Hydraulic Cylinders use external load, gravity, or machine weight to retract the piston after extension. These are among the most widely used single acting cylinder types due to their simplicity and reliability.
The single acting design means hydraulic pressure is applied in one direction only — to extend the piston rod — while the return stroke relies on the weight of the attached load or gravity to push the piston back. This eliminates the need for a return-side hydraulic line, reducing system complexity and cost.
